Kinemium Engine

The sandbox engine behind every OpenKine game. It ships a Roblox-style object model and services, scripting in Luau, and its own language, Kilang. This recode moves the engine core to Odin.

Services

Scripts reach the engine through services, just like on Roblox. These are available by default:

  • Debris
  • GuiSelectionService
  • HttpService
  • Lighting
  • LogService
  • Players
  • ReplicatedStorage
  • RunService
  • Selection
  • ServerScriptService
  • ServerStorage
  • StarterGui
  • TweenService
  • UserInputService
  • Workspace

Kinemium-only services

  • KinemiumFFIServiceCalls into native libraries from scripts.
  • KinemiumFontServiceLoads and manages fonts for UI and text.
  • KinemiumIconLoaderLoads icon sets for interfaces.
  • KinemiumModServiceLets a game load mods and control the environment they run in.
  • KinemiumPhysicsServiceEngine-level control over the physics simulation.
  • KinemiumRaylibRaylib bindings for direct drawing.
  • KinemiumShaderServiceCustom shaders for materials and post effects.

Datatypes

The datatypes you would expect from a Roblox-style engine, plus a few extras like Spring and Color4.

  • Axes
  • BoundingBox
  • BrickColor
  • CFrame
  • Color3
  • Color4
  • ColorSequence
  • ColorSequenceKeypoint
  • CustomPhysicalProperties
  • Enum
  • Faces / NormalId
  • NumberSequence
  • NumberSequenceKeypoint
  • Random
  • Ray
  • Rect / Region3
  • Region
  • Spring
  • UDim
  • UDim2
  • Vector2
  • Vector3

Runs in the browser too

The web build is the engine itself compiled to WebAssembly, not a separate demo. It runs the same Luau VM, services and Jolt physics as the desktop client, which is what would let a platform like OpenKine offer instant play from a game page.

just wasm
just wasm-serve
